Absolutely worth walking off-the-beaten path to this ice cream shop! So much creativity oozes from this ice cream shop and property as a whole. Quaint and colorful sitting area to enjoy your waffle cone, milkshake, or soft serve. Traditional flavors of vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate available plus many others including sorbet flavors. No affogato though. Friendly and helpful service, friendly visits from Baby the resident pit, and a cameo from the celebrity home owner of all this magic. Definitely make the stop and enjoy all the amazing wonder!

The lady here was super kind and sweet! I loved the experience that I had today with my boyfriend. We don't live nearby so coming to Anacortes and getting ice cream on this super hot day today was so nice and special to us. The shop was super crowded with smiling customers and very well kept. Everything behind the counters seemed clean and there were no visual issues. I loved the ice cream! It was super good just very pricey! We got two waffle cones with one scoop each and it came to about 18 but my boyfriend said it's not an everyday experience that we are able to have so it is worth it haha. Definitely recommend for those who are not too worried about spending too much

A quaint ice cream shop with some unique flavors. We stopped by about 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon after riding the Tommy Thompson Trail. They have some unique flavors and the ice cream was good; but what really impressed me was the service!!! There was one young woman working inside and quite a line. She greeted everyone as they walked up, asked what they'd like and responded with a "sure thing, you got it" or similar phrase. My point being that she was not in the least robotic, bored, or annoyed at working and being busy!!! something that is quickly becoming the norm:( I complemented her on her attitude and tipped her well; to which I received a genuine"Thanks!!!"

On a hot day this is a great place to stop. They have Edaleen Dairy ice cream, which has a great reputation. The downside is the wait in line. Because it's a small space families will send in one or two people to order for the whole family. Not the business' fault but I really wanted my ice cream! The wait was completely worth it! And the staff that were working that day were working hard. Definitely leave a generous tip when you order!

They serve Edaleen Dairy Ice Cream, which is a really quality brand of ice cream. Edaleen is made in Lynden and the company seems to be very respectable and environmentally conscientious. The products are consistently top quality, and the prices are great. Mad Hatters is a great little gem in Anacortes that lets us have some Edaleen ice cream without having to travel to Lynden to get it. Mad Hatters has a really friendly and welcoming environment and the workers (and owner) are always all smiles. The owner is extremely generous and involved with the community. When I was in high school, the owner frequently came to the school and would offer free ice cream after school. The school would set him up and he'd scoop everyone's ice cream and catch up with the teachers and students. He was even generous enough to bring several options to choose from. Even the teachers and principals would be waiting in line for a scoop on those days. Mad Hatters employs local students and serves locally sourced products, so it's a great way to support local businesses and economy. I'd rate this place a million stars if I could. This is definitively a one of a kind place that shows the character and feel of the community in Anacortes. If you're not from Anacortes, I highly recommend stopping at Mad Hatters, not just for the amazing ice cream, but because it's a huge part in the Anacortes experience
